Like food banks, there are furniture banks around the country, providing basic furnishings and housewares for those coming out of crisis or homelessness. The Green Chair Project, a new addition to this concept, has had amazing success in little under six months.
Partner organizations (USCRI, Step-Up Ministry to name a few) welcome this new addition which relieves the burden of having to store furniture themselves. I love Green Chair for its obvious service to our community, and the green factor – it is the ultimate in reuse (we’ll both be participating in the upcoming ReUseConex Conference – the first national conference about reuse). The Green Chair Project takes everything from chairs to…
…to lamps…
…to dishes…
…to chests…
…to couches…
…and everything inbetween. All that it takes to make a house a home, housewares included (they are in particular need of pots and pans right now). Please consider this worthy organization when donating your used items.
