River Arts District Asheville

Arrived in the mountains Thursday, past the peak for leaves, but still managed to see some autumn beauty. Starting with the farmer’s market, we spied fall’s bounty of greens and other seasonal veges, some bluegrass music and fall-inspired candles…



One tree was still hanging on…

An art stroll, down by the river, ordered up some fine, fall weather. The studios are in old warehouses and much of the landscape features reused materials…




…as does this interior with scrap wood wall…


…and many of the artists feature reuse materials as well, including Joyce Thornburg’s painted door…

…and her studio partner, Julia Masaoka…



…and Iron Maiden Studios…


…and whimsical art by Sean Pace who includes an old victrola, number two pencils and other found objects…
