Went away again. If it seems like all I do is travel, then my apologies. With aging parents, college hunting, and some actual leisure travel these last couple months, my little red suitcase has been getting a workout (wish I could say the same!). This past weekend was NYC – a little business/pleasure combo for the hubby and me. Sans children. Discovered a fab new store (new to me anyway) with an online store as well. Got some buttons for my retro coat, saw my couch fringe, and will order the braid for a lamp project I’ll blog about perhaps in 2012….
Walked around Chelsea gallery area and was annoyed by the pretentiousness of it all. A modifed merry-go-round with dolls hanging above, and guarded by a security man (as if someone could actually walk out of the gallery with this under their arm?). I LOVE modern art but this…I did not get. Same for many other stops in that area with LITTLE to no art to look at in BIG, empty galleries. Who’s buying this stuff anyway? Enjoyed the fresh air on the High Line after the stuffiness of the galleries. Went to Vitra and other boutique-y type shops in the meat packing district. Business part of the weekend included drinks at a Central Park West apartment that was practically a museum – aren’t I all la-di-da? Drinks followed by dinner here. A NYC experience that is not my usual, and definitely not my dime. Homebound for awhile and some big client projects ahead….
