NYC

April 26, 2012 by carole 1 Comment

Flew into NYC yesterday and met my sisters for a matinee performance of Clybourne Park.

Brilliant, simply brilliant.  With a limited run, if you happen to be in NYC the next few months, I highly recommend it.  It reminds me of why I love theatre, why theatre can do what only...Read More

Timeless Design: A Fashion Analogy

April 21, 2012 by carole 1 Comment

What makes timeless design?

Avoid trends at all costs or incorporate some inexpensive trendier items with foundation pieces?  Maintain a classic aesthetic, be it modern or traditional? Of course, this discussion is completely subjective. What is timeless to one is not...Read More

Family Room Makeover

April 18, 2012 by carole Leave a Comment

The family room is my most troublesome room.

We have never felt comfortable, hate the couch I bought, tried to make chairs work with the rug by slipcovering, blah, blah, blah.  Mr. F&F and I sit there to read the morning paper, he in his chair and I in mine.  We stare across...Read More

The Getty Center & a West Hollywood Home Tour

March 25, 2012 by carole Leave a Comment

Yesterday was a nice break from shopping, but my tours were still very much in the name of design.

First stop, the Getty Center, an ode to modern architecture but with ancient treasures inside. Had a lovely day with my friend who came up from Orange County.

Chippy and Rusty

January 31, 2012 by carole Leave a Comment

Too “rustic” may not be everyone’s cup of tea but they can be cool when mixed with more refined things.  That’s my favorite style right...Read More

Carole Marcotte

My name is Carole and I am a caring, efficient and passionate interior decorator. I help clients create stylish, functional homes that respect their past while designing for their future. After extensive research, I work tirelessly to blend clients’ existing and new decor into the overall design scheme. I love what I do.

My ideal for the design world in general (I can dream big, can’t I?): People will stop buying crap, refurbish and highlight their existing treasures and, if they absolutely need more stuff, buy only resale items (vintage, antique, consignment or the like). And if it must be new stuff, it will provide significant function, environmental sustainability or support our artists and thereby feed our soul. I am on a mission…care to join me?

My blog is a little bit decorating tips, a little bit travel, and a whole lotta love and design musings. Xo
